Having designed a new website for the church, I thought the next task should be my first blog post.
Firstly, a very warm welcome to you if you're visiting the site for the first time. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, or even feedback about the site itself.
The congregation at New Road is small, and the building is in need of numerous repairs. It sits in a deprived area and so like some other inner-city districts has problems with anti-social behaviour, crime, drug and alcohol addiction and so on.
Six months ago, I agreed to the church's request that I become their pastor. As much as the size or average age of a congregation is of no concern to me - I've preached to a church with just two people in before today, and both were elderly - it was a challenging situation. However, the great thing about having God as your father is that he will supply all that is needed to do what he requires (Phi. 4:19). If he wants to sustain a Christian witness on this spot, we'll be seeing startling answers to prayer in the months and years ahead.
We need some miraculous changes in circumstances, and I know from experience that God does this for his people continually. If you are inclined to, please pray first and foremost for Holy Spirit power to fall down on us, that we might love the Lord Jesus Christ more, hate sin, and be roused into zealous service in the cause of the gospel.
